FANTASTIC! We have used North Bay twice now as we have been looking to buy a fixerupper with some land to raise our family. Scott has come out both times to properties that have had some serious deferred maintenance. Issues everywhere. Some hidden and some obvious, but Scott has not been thrown off by any of it. He worked methodically and very detailed to catch everything and outline exactly what he is seeing, what he can prove and what he may suspect, but not know conclusively. I recently had a home inspection with Scott. As a first time home buyer, I fully appreciate the thoroughness of his inspection. I also appreciate the time he spent explaining to me the various things he was looking at. By far the best inspection we’ve had on our new home. Scott provided a comprehensive report detailing issues helping us to move forward with repairs. There were two other inspectors who, unfortunately, provided more general reports and didn’t inspect under the home – in the crawlspace. Scott braved the catacombs of the house’s underbelly and provided us with crucial pictures and information about a number of issues, particularly standing water, which we had no idea existed until his inspection. Besides reporting issues, Scott also added suggestions and insights to consider when seeking repairs, which is very helpful. I can honestly say that not all inspectors provide the same quality of service as we now have had three inspections in the last few months. The report provided by the first inspector, paid for by the previous owners and used by their realtor, seemed watered down. Not only did that inspector not check the crawlspace, but didn’t even go on the roof. We then sought out our own inspector via a website which misleadingly appeared to be a family owned business, but actually was an ecommerce front. That 2nd inspection was more comprehensive than the first, but it bothered us that he wasn’t willing to check the crawlspace – at least he did go on the roof, though. We had an excellent experience with North Bay Inspection. Our inspector was extremely thorough during a home inspection where we were considering making an offer. He spent around 3 hours and even suited up for the crawl space, which turned out to be in bad shape. From the start he was on time/early and answered all my questions throughout the inspection, while also doing a review at the end. Scott arrived promptly as scheduled, presenting in clean working clothes, using foot coverings inside the house and being thoughtful of the property being inspected. The review took 2.5 hours and he went through the entire grounds and structure with an eye to detail and obvious knowledge of codes, clearances, materials and systems. His written report was 63 pages, with pictures of observed issues to document the issues and to visually orient clearly to the locations. I have had two houses inspected by North Bay Inspections, one by John and the other by Scott. Both guys were extremely informative and professional. Scott found some items in the first home that were enough for us to back out of the deal. It’s better to pay a small fee for inspection than getting stuck with a crummy house. John inspected the second house and walked us through the whole process giving us updates along the way. I used North Bay Inspection to perform a home inspection of the condo I purchased in Benicia. Scott arrived early and well prepared for his inspection. While he performed his inspection he explained everything he saw both good and bad, taking the time to insure I was well informed of the process.
